nonhistone protein, which is a member of the heterochromatin protein family. It is enriched in the heterochromatin and associated with centromeres. HP1 alpha has a single N-terminal chromodomain that can bind to histone proteins via methylated lysine residues and a C-terminal chromo shadow-domain (CSD) that is responsible for the homodimerization and interaction with a number of chromatin-associated nonhistone proteins. It is involved in the formation of a functional kinetochore through interaction with essential kinetochore proteins (1). Recommended Applications WB, FC Applications and Recommended Dilution Factors WB: 1:1,000 - 10,000 FC: 1:10 - 100 Species Reactivity * Human, Mouse, Rat *Species cross-reactivity is based on WB analysis. Products Data Western blot analysis on (A) HeLa, (B) SH-SY5Y, (C) MCF-7, (D) A431, (E) C6, (F) RAW 264.7, (G) PC-12, and (H) NIH/3T3 cell lysates using anti-HP1 alpha RabMAb (cat. #5346-1). Flow cytometric analysis of permeabilized SH-SY5Y cells using anti-HP1 alpha RabMAb (red) (catalog # 5346-1) or a rabbit IgG (negative) (green). Specificity A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in human HP1 alpha was used as an immunogen. |
