| 產(chǎn)品參數(shù) | 【產(chǎn)品介紹】Ferritin is an iron-sequestering protein
that specifically localizes in the mitochondria (1). It stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form; thus, it is important for iron homeostasis and has ferroxidase activity (2). Ferritin is different from cytosolic ferritins; ferritin is not ubiquitous and not found in cultured cells such as HeLa or H1299. It is highly expressed in the testis, particularly in spermatocytes and Leydig cells, and it is also found in the heart, nervous system, pancreas (islet of Langerhans) and kidney, but only in cells characterized by high metabolic activity. Furthermore, ferritin is important in reducing the harmful interaction between Fe and H2O2, which may be particularly dangerous in cells with sustained respiratory activity (1).
