like growth factor 2 (IGF-2) and mannose 6-phosphate (M6P). The IGF-2 and M6P binding sites are located on different segments of the receptor. This receptor functions in the intracellular trafficking of lysosomal enzymes, activation of transforming growth factor beta, and degradation of IGF-2. While mouse IGF-2R shows exclusive expression from the maternal allele, imprinting of human IGF-2R appears to be polymorphic, with only a minority of individuals showing expression from the maternal allele (1).
