P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases that catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. Aromatase localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and catalyzes the last steps of estrogen biosynthesis, three successive hydroxylations of the A ring of androgens. Mutations in Aromatase can result in either increased or decreased aromatase activity; the associated phenotypes suggest that estrogen functions both as a sex steroid hormone and in growth or differentiation (1). Recommended Applications WB, IP, FC Applications and Recommended Dilution Factors WB: 1:1,000 - 10,000 IP: 1:10 - 100 FC: 1:100 - 500 Species Reactivity * Human, Rat *Species cross-reactivity is based on WB analysis. Products Data Western blot analysis on (A) human placenta, (B) human uterus, (C) JAR, and (D) NIH:OVCAR-3 lysates using anti-Aromatase RabMAb (cat. #5233-1). Flow cytometric analysis of permeabilized NIH:OVCAR-3 cells using anti-Aromatase RabMAb (red) (catalog # 5233-1) or a rabbit IgG (negative) (green). Specificity A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in human Aromatase was used as an immunogen. |
